Anomalous Coffee Machine Versions Explained – ACM 1 vs 2 vs 3
Confused by the versions? Here's what ACM 1, ACM 2 (and Safe Edition), and ACM 3 are, and which one you should play first.
There are three Anomalous Coffee Machine games, and their names and editions are genuinely confusing. Here is what each one is, how they differ, and which one you should play first.
Anomalous Coffee Machine (the original)
- Released: August 2024, still updated (v1.4 in September 2026)
- Price: free
- Where: itch.io — Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, browser
The one that started it. You, the girl, the machine, the text box. 730+ words, 680+ transformations, 100,000+ words of dialogue. This is the purest version of the concept and the best starting point — it is free, runs everywhere, and teaches the idea in minutes. If you only play one, play this.
Anomalous Coffee Machine 2
- Released: 2025 (v0.6+ through 2026)
- Price: free public builds; paid supporter builds
- Where: itch.io and Steam
The sequel expands everything: more words, more transformations, new scenes, and a "Deluxe" build line. It also comes in a Safe Edition — a separate itch.io release for players who want the word-experiment gameplay without the adult-tagged content. The Steam release makes this the most convenient version to install and update on PC.
Play this second, after the original. The mechanics will feel familiar, but the word list and events are new.
Anomalous Coffee Machine 3
- Released: public demo (2026)
- Price: free demo
- Where: itch.io
The newest entry changes the formula. You play as a different character in a new setting, cups go into an inventory instead of being drunk immediately, and you can share cups with neighbors or sell them in-game. It is still a demo, so expect a shorter experience that will grow with updates.
Which should you play?
- First time? The original (ACM 1). Free, complete, everywhere.
- Want the biggest word list? ACM 2 (Deluxe builds).
- Want it on Steam? ACM 2 — the only one on Steam so far.
- Want the newest ideas? ACM 3 demo, then follow its updates.
- Prefer to avoid adult-tagged content? ACM 2 Safe Edition.
All versions are by the same developer, HoruBrain, and all are available from the official download page. For gameplay help, see our beginner's guide.
